Presidential Tours

We offer seven different presidential tours ranging from 2 to 10 hours. Select the one that you like best.

Presidential Tour A is 2 hours

This is almost an exclusive George Herbert Walker Bush tour. It includes:

  • City Hall – Statue of Republic of Texas President Sam Houston (1793 – 1863). Open Monday through Saturday. Closed on Sunday, holidays, and for festivals.
  • Hobby Center for the Performing Arts – Site of the 1928 Democratic Presidential Convention.
  • Bob Casey Federal Courthouse Building – Congressman George Bush’s office was in this building.
  • Astrodome – Site of the 1992 Republican National Convention.
  • George Bush’s (1924 – 20xx) current address – 9 South West Oak Drive, Houston, Texas 77056.  This street has closed access. We can drive past the entrance of the street.
  • St. Martin’s Episcopal Church – The elder Bushes attend services at this church.
  • The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa – Vice-President George Bush stated that this was his home from 1981 to 1989 and President Bush from 1989 to 1993.
  • Statue of President George Bush, the 41st in Sesquicentennial Park. Dedicated on December 2, 2004.

Presidential Tour B is 3 hours

This is an inclusive tour with dozens of presidents included. It includes:

  • City Hall – Statue of Republic of Texas President Sam Houston (1793 – 1863). Open Monday through Saturday.  Closed on Sunday, holidays, and for festivals.
  • Hobby Center for the Performing Arts – Site of the 1928 Democratic Presidential Convention.
  • Bob Casey Federal Courthouse Building – Congressman George Bush’s office was in this building.
  • Statue of President George Bush, the 41st in Sesquicentennial Park. Dedicated on December 2, 2004.
  • Rice Lofts – Site of the Republic of Texas Capitol 1837 – 1840, where former President Anson Jones (1798 – 1858) committed suicide in 1858, and where President John F. Kennedy (1917 – 1963) spent his last afternoon on November 21, 1963.
  • Harris County Annex 2 – Site of the Executive Mansion of President Houston of Texas from 1837 to 1838. A historical marker is on the Caroline Street side of the building.
  • Allen Center – Site of the former Lamar Hotel, Room 8F, “The unofficial capital of Texas” from the 1930s – 1960s. It was built in 1926. It had 16 floors. It was demolished in 1985.
  • Lyndon Baines Johnson’s (1908 – 1973) home 1930 – 1931 – Built c. 1906. Known as the Askew House.
  • Glenwood Cemetery – President Anson Jones is buried here.
  • David Adickes’s Sculpturworx – Collection of over 30 presidents’ heads that are 18 to 22 feet high.
  • A Tribute to Statesmanship – four busts, including George Washington (1732 – 1799), Abraham Lincoln (1809 – 1865), Sam Houston, and Stephen F. Austin (1793 – 1836).

Presidential Tour C is 5 hours

This tour includes everything in Tour A and Tour B plus:

  • Lunch stop. Generally, we go to a restaurant along Montrose Boulevard or in the Rice Village. Lunch usually costs between $10.00 - $20.00 depending on what one orders.

Presidential Tour D is 8 hours

This tour includes everything in Tour C and the burial grounds of the second elected president of the Republic of Texas Mirabeau Bounaparte Lamar in Richmond Texas. Richmond is 34 miles/54 kilometers from Houston. The drive to and from Richmond is approximately 1.5 hours roundtrip. Lunch may be in Richmond.

Presidential Tour E is 10 hours

This tour includes everything in Tour C and the Washington on the Brazos Historical Complex Tour. This encompasses the Independence Hall, Star of the Republic Museum and Barrington Living History Farm that was the home of the last Texas President, Anson Jones. Washington on the Brazos is 81 miles/130 kilometers from Houston. It utilizes a number of country roads. The drive to and from Washington on the Brazos is approximately 3 hours roundtrip. Lunch may be at a restaurant on the way to Washington on the Brazos.

Presidential Tour F is 10 hours

This tour includes the home in which Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ) resided in Houston and the LBJ Library is in Austin. The drive time to and from Austin is approximately 5.5 hours roundtrip. Austin is 162 miles/271 kilometers from Houston. One should allow at least 3 hours at this large library. Lunch is in Austin.

Presidential Tour G is 10 hours

It includes everything in Tour A and the George Herbert Walker Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station.  College Station is 100 miles/160 kilometers from Houston.  The drive to and from College Station is approximately 3 hours roundtrip. Lunch is at a restaurant on the way to College Station.
