Haunted Tour A
This is a 3 to 3.5-hour night tour, depending on the time of year.
The tour begins at approximately sunset. We go through River Oaks, Freedmen’s Town, Midtown, 4th Ward, 3rd Ward, and 6th Ward.
We visit over one dozen locations that have been identified as haunted and or are associated with the macabre. These include four homes of infamous murders, suicides, and residences in River Oaks and two abandoned cemeteries: one black and one white.
The African American cemetery has an apartment built over part of it and is where Jack Yates, the first prominent local African American civil rights leader, is buried.
The white cemetery has one of the founders of Houston, John Kirby Allen, buried there.
We’ll see several haunted buildings, including the homes of John Kirby, and Mellie Esperson, the Julia Bedford Ideson Library haunted by the custodian, and a federal court house building haunted by a judge.
We visit one two-story haunted bar where a woman was murdered in the 1950s and the hanging oak tree.
There is still more to see. Come and join us. |
